INGREDIENTS
| Green peas dried | 1cup |
| Mustard | 1tsp |
| Urad dal | 1tsp |
| Salt | to taste |
| Asafoetida | a pinch |
| Curry leaves | a sprig |
| Oil | 2tsp |
| Coconut grated | 3tsp |
| Turmeric powder | 1/2 tsp |
| Channa dal | 2tsp |
| Coriander seeds | 2tsp |
| Pepper | 1 tsp |
| Jeera/Cumin | 1 tsp |
| Red chilly | 2-3 |
HOW TO MAKE
- Soak green peas/pattani overnight or atleast for 8 hrs.Pressure cook for 2 whistles and take it out in a strainer.The peas should not turn mushy.
- For making spice powder dry roast in a pan all the ingredients given in the for the powder table till nice aroma comes and the spices turn golden brown.Keep the flame low and ensure they don’t turn black as it will give a bitter taste.Once cooled down put in a blender.
- Grind coarsely.In a pan add oil and add mustard,urad dal,asafoetida and curry leaves.
- Once they crackle add boiled peas,turmeric powder,salt,spice powder and freshly grated coconut.Mix well.
- Green peas sundal/Pattani sundal is ready for offering as Neivedhyam.
Notes
- You can try adding grren chilies instead of red ones.
- Addition of coriander leaves and green chilly paste to it in place of addind spice powder mix is another option.
- If giving to kids add grated carrots with few drops of lime.
