Channa pulao is one of the tastiest and protein filled pulaos I have ever tasted.I learnt this from my friend who told me how she made her her son who is a real fussy eater made this to eat.Iam always on the look out for various nutrious and filling recipes for kids to with stand hunger pangs in schools or colleges.My daughter has very tight schedules and and leaves early in the morning for college and has to travel a bit too.So keeping that in mind I try to include in her diet suffiicient balance of all dietary requirements.This pulao is healthy,has less oil and above all quick one pot meal,See below the easy recipe of channa pulao and let me know.
INGREDIENTS
| White Chick Peas/White channa | 1/4 cup |
| Basmati Rice | 1 cup |
| Potato | 1 |
| Onion | 1 |
| Capsicum | 1 |
| Tomato | 1 |
| Red Chilli Powder | 1/2 tsp |
| Turmeric Powder | 1/4tsp |
| Garam Masala Powder | 1/2 tsp |
| Bay Leaf | 1/2 |
| Grated Ginger | 1/2 tsp |
| Cumin/Jeera | 1/2 tsp |
| Oil | 2 tsp |
| Salt | to taste |
HOW TO MAKE
- Soak channa overnight.Pressure cook till 3 whistltes.Take it out and keep aside for later use.
- Chop potato,onion,tomato and capsicum.Soak RICE FOR AN HOUR.In a pan add oil jeera,bay leaf,grated ginger and turmeric powder.
- Add now garam masala,red chilli powder and salt.Let the veggies soften a bit. Add cooked channa and soaked rice.Add 2 cups of water and cook for 3 whistles.
- Channa Pulao is ready.
- Serve channa pulao with any raita of your choice or pack it for lunch with any chips or gravy.
Notes
- If you want you can add green peas and red capsicum to look it more colourful.
- Boondi raita tastes best with this pulao.You may also serve with any vegetable raita.
- Adding turmeric powder adds a nice colour.
