This is an easy snack recipe made during diwali at almost all homes. It requires less time to prepare and very easy to make.I make this once in a month since my hubby likes it very much.It was a long time since i made this and so thought will post as well.If you are preparing a large quantity make in batches and knead the dough fresh each time to ensure the crunchiness and crispiness of the snack. Now let's see how ribbon pakoda is made.
INGREDIENTS
| Gram Flour/Besan | 2 cups |
| Rice Flour | 1 cup |
| Red Chilly Powder | 3 tsp |
| Asafoetida | 1/2 tsp |
| Salt | to taste |
| White Til/Sesame Seeds | 1 tsp |
| Ghee/Butter | 3 tsp |
| Oil | to deep fry |
HOW TO MAKE
- In a mixing bowl add rice flour and gram flour.Add red chilly powder, salt, asafoetida, sesame seeds and lastly ghee/butter.Knead to form a soft dough avoiding lumps by adding water little by little.
- Take the ribbon pakoda acchu shown here for making this.Fill the dough in the press.
- Heat the oil and when it gets heated slowly squeeze the dough on to the oil.Flip to other side and wait till hush..sound subsides.Take it out on a tissue paper for excess oil to absorb.
- Enjoy it as an evening snack with hot cup of coffee or tea.
Notes
1.Some people add grounded green chilli instead of red chilly powder. That will give even more light colour to the ribbon pakoda. You may try if you like it.
2.You can replace besan 2Cups to 1 cup roasted gram flour/Pottukadalai mavu and 1cup gram flour/besan.
