This Poori Masala is the one they serve in the restuarants along with hot pooris.This is purely a south indian style side dish for poori.Though sometimes i serve this with hot rotis as well.If you don't make it watery and keep the potato masala a little dry you can serve this with rava idly as well.This dish is a hit combo when served during breakfast.I made this last week for our brunch.Let us see how this is made.
INGREDIENTS
| Potato(boiled and peeled) | 3 |
| Onion | 2 |
| Green Chilli | 2 |
| Turmeric Powder | 1/2 tsp |
| Oil | 2 tsp |
| Mustard | 1 tsp |
| Channa dal | 1 tsp |
| Curry Leaves | 1 sprig |
| Coriander Leaves | to garnish |
| Lemon | 1/2(optional) |
HOW TO MAKE
- Cut onions and keep aside.Boil and peel the potatoes.Take a pan and add oil and once it gets heated add mustard to splutter and then add channa dal and green chillies.
- When done add turmeric powder and onions and sautes well.Add boiled potatoes and add salt.Mix well with water to get the desired consistency.Garnish with curry and coriander leaves.
- Enjoy with hot and fluffy pooris.
Notes
- You can add peas or tomatoes to this dish while sauteing the onions.
- At the time of garnishing you can squeeze half a lemon.
- If the masala is watery add a mixture of gram flour/besan and water.
