| Carrot | 1 |
| Chayote/Chow Chow | 1/4 |
| Onion | 1 |
| Tomato | 1 |
| Curry Leaves | 2 sprigs |
| Coriander Leaves | a few |
| Grated Ginger | 1/2 tsp |
| Oil | 1 tsp |
| Salt | to taste |
| Urad Dal | 1/2 tsp |
| Red Chillies | 2-3 |
| Tamarind | a gooseberry shaped ball |
| Oil | 1/4 tsp |
| Mustard | 1/4 tsp |
| Urad Dal | 1/4 tsp |
| Asafoetida | a pinch |
HOW TO MAKE
- Chop onion,tomato carrot,chayote,ginger finely.Add curry leaves and coriander leaves and keep them ready.In a pan add oil and add urad dal and redchilles.Once roasted add chopped veggies alongwith ginger,curry leaves and coriander leaves.
- Once sauteed and cooled place them in a blender with tamarind and salt.Grind to a fine smooth consistency.Add water to make the blending easier,but don’t add too much.
- Temper with mustard seeds,urad dal and asafoetida and serve with idlis,dosas or arisi upma.
Notes
- You can even add snake gourd,bottle gourd,green peas,brinjal etc.
- Add chillies more if you want it spicier.
- Adding green chilles also will enhance the taste.
