INGREDIENTS
| Rice Flour | 1 cup |
| Urad Dal Flour | 2 tsp |
| Water | as needed |
| Asafoetida | 1/2 tsp |
| Jeera/Cumin | 1/2 tsp |
| White Sesame | 1/2 tsp |
| Salt | to taste |
| Butter | 2 tsp |
| Coconut(grated) | 3 tsp |
| Oil | 1 tsp for kneading+to deep fry |
HOW TO MAKE
- In a wide bowl add rice flour,urad dal flour,jeera,sesame and asafoetida.Now add butter,grated coconut and salt.Add some oil and knead.
- Adding water knead the dough and make small sized balls and dry them on a towel.
- Put them in a pan of hot oil.Once golden brown take them out.
- Drain excess oil with the help of an oil strainer.
- Uppu Seedai/Salt Seedai is ready for offering to LORD KRISHNA as naivedhyam.
Notes
- In order that seedais don’t burst sieve rice and urad dal flours well before use.
- Rice flour should not be wet,dry roast it before use.See preparation of homemade urad dal and rice flours following the link given.
- Don’t roll the balls too tight,as it might cause the balls to burst.
- After rolling out seedais spread them on a dry towel or newspaper to absorb moisture in them,as the wetness in them may also cause bursting.
- If planning to use seedais for longer time dry roast cococnut and use.
